Did you check the driven gear at the end of the cable in the transmission? Have found many that get stripped or plugged with debris.
Be sure to count the correct number of teeth.
If you haven’t solved your speedo cable issue or gotten one from Bill at Dominion, you might try Vintage British Cables up in Vancouver BC. They have an M cable and can make up cables with all their parts. Google the name.
