Well, that plan didn't work out so I reverted back to the original firing order prior to making the change. I reset the first cylinder to top dead center and tried it again. It fired, sputtered but wouldn't run to speed. So, advanced the distributor a little clockwise and it didn't get any better. So I went back to the prior sputter position and it sputtered again. I then went counter clockwise and tried starting but was low cranking due to battery drain. I stopped so that it could recharge via my trickle charger that I keep onboard. I will try again tomorrow as we may be on to something with sputter and firing. Some good news is better than none at all. I did notice when I pulled the distributor that the grommet on the top was pinched and so was the distributor ground wire. I removed the grommet and the wire didn't show any signs of a break in the jacket but that could be because it has a silicone jacket. I wonder if the wire inside got damaged? your thoughts?
