MGB 1977 MGB Antenna Installation???

I remove the broken antenna and tried to push the new antenna lead thru the hole inside the fender but there seem to be a metal plate covering the hole and preventing the antenna lead from going thru the hole. I removed the side panel inside the car where you would expect the antenna lead to enter the car and there is no sign of a hole!!!
Do I need to remove the instrument consol?

Alf,

No, the wire should come in behind the dress panel.
Try this, go to the radio, find the antenna wire. disconnect it and start pushing it out backwards until you come to where it enters the cabin.

Glad to know I don't have to remove the console.
My car is a left hand drive. The dress panel by my left foot? I removed that out of the way with some difficulty and had someone push the lead from the outside to the inside of the car but the lead would not go thru the hole.
I don't know where the antenna should emerge in the car!!! High up on the left side of the console?

Your on the right track!!

Just slightly below the level of the dash about 200mm in from the front of the door.
Do you still have the black panels underneath the dash? I'm not 100% sure but that might hide it.
Like I said, find the antenna Wire at the back of the radio and follow the wire backwards to the antenna. That HAS to find where it come through.

Assuming antenna mounts on fender behind the splash guard at the back of the wheel well, remove that splash guard ( about 6 to 8 bolts) which should give you access to see where exactly it goes into car which should be just behind the top of the inside panel...then route it up behind dash and down to radio. I replaced mine twice.
