1967 BJ8 Coupe based upon the ACME advert

Gentlemen,

I intend to change the wiper motor and wiper arms/blades during the process as one of my guys broke the extension arm whilst taking it out. Do any of you have any ideas on an alternative motor and wiper blades from a more recent car ? As it rains (often !!) in Europe the old blades were more than a little pathetic in any case..

Regards, Andrew

On the Jaguar I hardly use the wipers since putting Provision rainclear on
Its a product like Rain-X but I prefer Provision
Even more durable is the Gyeon Q2 view but harder to work with

I think the screens dimensions don't allow bigger wipers

Well Andrew, If you can achieve the low and thin "side" profile of the roof in your artist sketch....then I personally think you captured what a Austin Healey GT Coupe "should" look like if designed properly. At least in my humble opinion. I, like most of the people in this forum find your project very interesting indeed! I was wondering what the roof would look like if there where slight bulges on top of the roof, such as the "Gurrny" bubble found on the Ford GT. Or a thin rib formed in the center of the Roof line to give it some interesting detail. Just a thought.

I was give a good book for xmas . Austin Healey , the bulldog breed . big section on the Healey Coupes in it . the red car Warwick code X313 is stunning . Love the longer side rear window .

Gentlemen,

I need some advice.

One of the envisaged upgrades is a 5 speed transmission rather than the 4 speed with overdrive. Cape International can provide a Ford modified 5 speed and GETRAG can also supply a 5 speed alternative. Have any of you carried out this conversion ? if so what are your experiences ?

Regards,

Andrew

Hans,

Thx for your reply but not really what I was looking for. Just for your info your contact charges €6000 for a similar product that GETRAG sells for €3500...

I want to know if anyone has fitted one, tried one and can give me feedback.

Regards,

Andrew

Website information tends to age
Just give the guy a call ;-)

Gentlemen,

As one of the many upgrades for the Coupe I am installing a 5 speed gearbox. The existing BJ8 gearbox with O/D (in excellent condition) is up for sale as well as the prop shaft which also needs to be replaced to accomodate the new box. As these don't come up for sale very often as most suppliers only provide a refurbished box/exchange I am offering it to the forum members (or friends of) before any other websites.

The price for the two items is (Euros) €1500 plus transport.

If anyone is interested please let me know.

Hi Rick,

Yes in so far as the chassis is back from blasting and has been primed. The donor chassis required a fair amount of 'jigging' as it was out of square and twisted by 3 to 4 degrees front to back. The engine (bottom end) was a real mess and is away being reground as we speak. I have received all the panel parts and the guys are preparing to fit and weld.

I am sure that you have seen many photos of chassis in paint so I won't bore anyone with that. I will post photos when we are ready to work on the roof shape (hand made finally)..

Regards,

Andrew

The back window is too big its out of proportion .Makes it look like a hatchback Volvo .

I'm afraid it's not doing it for me either. The top part looks rather bulbous and the rear rather large as Healey Nut suggests. You might try changing the louvered portion to clear glass to break up the expanse of color a bit. I like the CapeSport rendering better, but I don't think one has ever been built and perhaps that roofline isn't practical in real life:
