MGB 1962 MGB

2000 pounds? Probably less, 1800 maybe. Of course with rustmaggots eating away, it could be less than that. Someone close by that has a car dolly you could borrow, or do they have to be flatbedded?

2300,2400 morelike. if they're complete cars.

I could get them all on a flatbed but I would need to bring my compressor for the tires. I've contemplated the Harbor Freight Haulers as I may start looking for parts cars to fund the hobby. I would have to make 3 trips but it is only about 35 mi. round trip. Flatbedding it might cost about $80 each unless he can take 2 on the flatbed at once. But even still the investment to buy my own would pay off over time in convienience and time saved in not having to locate the towing company. I think there is one rated on HF at 1800#.
I think sometimes Uhaul sells there old stuff. I could look at them maybe?

But there's got to be something worth buying it for.

For a 35 mile move I think I would talk to someone with a tilt bed car mover, two at a time anyway. Might be kind of cheep rather than buying.

Tilt bed with 2 on it & tow the daily driver behind on its rear wheels & a dolly - see that all the time down here!

There ya go, 35 miles can not be too expensive prorated amoung three cars. Any bodyshop/wrecking yard/etc should be able to give you a price, call several.

You would be suprised. This is Long Island NY. Everything costs a fortune here.

'round here folks just use a tow strap and burn up the brakes on the car being towed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I passed a pickup pulling a Jeep on the interstate the other day - using just a single chain! Fools!

My dad and I considered towing my 4runner home when it broke down (we've done it before with small cars) with his F150, but after thinking about it for a couple hours, We decided against it. No power steering, no power brakes, and him towing a vehicle that weighs more (with 31 inch tires too) than his truck on a strap didn't make sense. I'da creamed him and we'd both have broken trucks. Called the towtruck and paid the (well worth it) $45 for the flatbed.

I once used a strap to tow my wife in a 1980 Chevy Monza with a 1983 Tercel. Made it but thinking back on it now, seems kinda dumb. I was young we were in love....nevermind.
The Monza was cool but only a 4cyl.

I've warped a few brake rotors and ruined the pads/shoes on the little cars we've towed too - just trying to keep the strap taught, and not run into a vehicle thats 2-3 feet in front of you pulling you at 45 mph.

I've a purpose built towbar for MGB's. Remove front bumper, bolt it on. Great for the odd "oh, chite" scenario. Never had to use it for aught but draggin' acquired orphans home.

You know I have been thinking that's what I need for the bugeye, not yet but been thinking it might be a smart thing to have.

Towbars are a good thing. <Homer Simpson> MMMMMMmmmmmm. Towbar!

Bolts right to the frame in this instance. I'll see if I can get a photo or two if any are interested in copying it.

I would like to see Doc. would convert to mount to bolt holes for bumper. Think I even know where to have one welded up.
