MGB 1962 MGB

On some early cars... You might consider adjusting the holes so you're pulling the frame itself. Some cars bumper mounts aren't going to hold up to the stresses of towing.
 
It goes to the frame rails in this instance as Jack discerned.
 
Aye, Bugeye bumper bolts directly to the frame with four bolts, in my mind a good place for a toe bar.

I think mine is going to need a kink in it to get it up to hitch height.
 
Or, the easiest thing is to drop your hitch..I've got several setups on the wall in my garage (if I knew how to do PhotoShop, I'd circle them in the photo below)

Hitch is built into truck bumper, rated at 2K lbs so is fine for a Bugeye or.........
