TR2/3/3A 1960 tr3 a petrol tank front millboard question

My car has a curved mill board positioned in the front of the petrol tank. The original was destroyed from weather, use and 100,000 miles on it. I bought a used one on Ebay that looked OK in the pictures, Once I had it my hands I found that it needed some "fixin". I"ve done the "fixin" and it fits fairly well, but it just doesn't seem right. Like it should fit better, snugger and etc.
Does anyone have any pictures of that mil board fit?
I have looked through all of my pictures I have taken over the years but I don't seem to have any of that area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Tinkerman

Sorry, I don't have any good photos handy. Just wanted to point out that the panel changed at TS60001, and some pre-TS60k cars were sold as 1960 models. That might be why your eBay find doesn't fit so well.

I had to fix the one I have with fiberglass and fiber board and thats why I need to do some fitting. I just don't know how close to the back of the cockpit it goes and that is really the point of the inquiry. I can just do it by eye and that may be the best way. Was just checking.

I may have just answered my own question. I found 6 metal tabs sticking out from the top back of the cockpit. I'm guesing that the upholstered mill board rests on those tabs? Is that correct? If so where do I go from there. Please remember that I did not take this apart. It may have been the PO ro my son. In any event it was 15 or 20 years ago.

Really appreciate your help on this.

The fit is certainly not rock solid but it gets a lot better once you cover the wheel wells and attach the dog leg trim and the cockpit capping pieces. Look for two sheet metal tabs below the capping in the back. Wedge the top of the millboard between the capping and the tabs and then push it back to fit over the wheel wells. I ended up attaching two small tabs at the bottom and used sheet metal screws through the sloping panel to keep everything in place. That made the whole assembly finally rock solid (sort of). If you have a post 60,000 body with a flat ledge, you may or may not need to use the tabs on the bottom.

I've been through the fitting stage recently and have several photos from different angles. I'll post a couple here as an example. If you want any from a different perspective, let me know where to send them. In one you can see the "clips" that the board fits into, and the other two show how it fits.
