TR2/3/3A 1960 TR 3 A Wind Shield Problem

New update...

I now have more knowledge of TR windscreen frames than I want to admit. The Early TR's seem to have used the long double nut plate. That is on my TR2. But, I have 6 other frames kicking around (don't ask), and they all have 2 single nut plates per side...for 4 total. Here is how they look:

So, Dick, I think you likely need the singles for your year car. You can easily tell by where the plate retaining screw hole is. If there is a hole within an inch of each of the stanchion screw holes, then you need the single plates. If you only have one retaining hole exactly between the stanchion screw holes, then you will need the long double plate.

Thanks Marv & John.
Marv I'm going to go by my local Ace and see if the have the size metal I need for the double plate. I'll let you know if they do or don't.
John thanks for all of your help. From what I see on the frame that I have I need the longer double plate so its off to Ace tomorrow.
Thanks, Y'all

Dick,

I just had another passing thought about those plates. Somewhere (?) I read that those 3 screws have to be mounted in a certain order; What that order is ?? There were 2 longer ones & 1 short one.

When I was working on my `57TR3; It was strongly suggested to me by BCF memebers to replace them exactly back to where they were Orig. mounted. Reason being; If you put the longer screw into the hole that requires the shorter screw; You may pot. try and over tighten it & "Crack" goes the windshield.

Just something to consider or you may find that Thd. somewhere here? I was restoring my `57 about 2yrs ago.

LOL, Russ

Mornin Russ, thanks for the reminder! ISTR there are two long thread and 1 short 7/8" & 1". The short go's on the top and the long ones go on the bottom.
Nothing simple Eh!

Thanks Dan, I will email you.
