WHERE WOULD I FIND GOOD INFO ON HOW THIS CAR LEFT THE FACTORY, THE ONLY PLATE ON THE FIRE WALL ONLY HAS TWO 4 DIGIT NUMBERS AND NO WORDS OR LETTERS? THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO US IN PEICES A LITTLE WHILE BACK AND NOW WE ARE TRYING TO GET IT ALL BACK TOGETHER. AND THE OWNER WANTS AN ORIGINAL RESTORATION.

Hi Brady,
As was explained, you have a missing tag.

You could get a start here. Obtain a factory production record for the car. BMIHT can find the original missing tag info from the numbers on the plate that you have. The BMIHT info can be found here.
https://www.healey.org/production.shtml

On the plate thay you have, the first four numbers are the batch number. The second four are the body number. Looking up the body number in one of the books previously mentioned can give you a clue as to what & when, but the missing tag which contains the car number info will be necessary to pin things down exactly. Reproducing this tag will be necessary for a restoration anyway. A reproduction tag with the correct number can be obtained.

The engine number may or may not be the original.

Start with the books, & BMIHT, & go from there. A good place to start is here: https://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29492&SortOrder=1
