T-Series 1953 MG TD Reassembly - CONTINUOUSLY UPDATED

Gotta change that shifter knob and shaft - being picky again - That dash is stupendously cool!

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]That is really really nice looking Tony. Dare I ask, does it run?
Totally rebuilt drivetrain - oil in engine but no water in radiator yet.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]How about the glove box cover?
Gotta pick it up from the upholsterer's.

tsk, tsk, tsk....the new one is on my workbench waiting for the car to return home - along with a new rubber inlay for the driver floor carpet.

Should I ever have doubted you. Looking sweet.

Very nice, Tony. You're really gonna enjoy that one!

$59.88

That's what my new TD windshield cost. I took the old one to a local glass shop - its 1/4" laminated clear glass - since it was yellowing around the edges.

They made a pattern & cut a new one out of 1/4" laminated clear glass...looks just like the original - except perfectly clear!!

I'm looking into making a run of 5 or 6 to offer for sale...my guy at Moss said he'd send folks to me if I decided to make them!

WHOOO.....made me relook my original post, Vinnie!!

But, I'll be able to sell them for well under $100!!

Just messing around. Ya gotta have some proffit margin. I think my windsheild is ok cept for a few little bubbles. If I need one, I'll know where to go to.

Now my work begins. My list of "to do's:

* Install headlights (NOS LUCAS lights on way from UK)
* Install glove box door
* Install top bows
* Install new side curtains, cloth top, & boot
* Finish rewiring (all lights, etc. need connecting)
* Replace all radiator hose clamps w/NOS
* Fluids/distributor cap/plug wires, etc. (haven't done since rebuild)
* Install new driver side windshield frame mirror
* Install new driver sun visor
* Install new wind wings
* Install new gearshift lever & knob
* Adjust park brake

....plus some other little stuff I've probably not identified yet.

Man in the pics that is as nice as I have ever seen if not better.

Made a mistake, showed wife the pics above and she says oh, I love that, even the colour, why can't you do that.

Jack - you can & did! What she's really saying is she wants a T-Series MG!!

How do you write speechless with no letters? She is a beauty for sure. Your to do list does not include "drive this baby someplace", need a volunteer?

Jack I think I would try to translate that as "Why don't we do that honey?" That's how I got the '66, left the ebay page up on the screen and went to the dump, when I got back the smarter half was at the computer, case closed. Now I need to start posting Tony's up there. Geez, Mike how come "WE" don't have a cool old one like that?

Unbelieveable. I'd love to see it in person someday. Looking good.

Fantastic, Tony. You're really going to enjoy that one. Wow... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]after 11 months is the guy in the background doing a happy dance?
The 2 guys in the background are employees of the body shop...the younger one worked on basic tub & body parts preparation but the older one only held things while I was reassembling...& they both helped push it on the trailer...but I do think Rick, the owner, was happy to get my final check - I paid for paint & materials before he started spraying the final color, made an interim payment when everything was painted & the main body was looking like a car, & wrote the final check y'day.

That's a real beauty Tony, I know you are - but you have a right to be proud.

I'll leave these pics up on my screen & see if I can get some of those kinds of comments from the wife /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

So how many zeros was it Tony? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
