1275 Tranny seal

WALTER

When I got an extra tranny with a parts car I stood it up on its front end and the fluid leaked out. Is there supposed to be a seal to prevent this or or is this OK when it is installed and level?

Thanks,
Walter

Walter, there is no front seal on a Spridget trans, it just uses a scroll, much like the rear main bearing area of the crank. Nothing unusual about it leaking when stored nose down.
The front cover can be machined to fit a seal, however. I think the seal I have used was a Chicago Rawhide, P/N 8620.

Thanks Jeff. One less thing to worry about.
