After 6 months of taking things apart and rebuilding sub-systems I actually have to start reassembly before winter sets in. I beg everyone's indulgence over the next few weeks... I may be in over my head.
I'm replacing the 948 and smoothcase in my bugeye with a 1275 and ribcase. I'm replacing the slave cylinder, although it looks the same as on my smoothcase. I purchased a 3" pushrod to replace the 2-1/2" that I had.
In taking off the flywheel to replace the ring gear I realized that there is a shim behind the flywheel. With a 3" rod is there a way that I can I know that the throw will be proper? I do not know if any material has been removed from the flywheel.
In a related matter, is there any source of a retaining tab available for the flywheel bolts? As of now I torqued the bolts to 40 ft lbs and used loctite, but not lockwashers. Will that suffice?
I can't find any reference to a torque for the pressure plate bolts. I will just tighten them with lockwashers.
Can't tell you how much I appreciate this site.
