100-6 Mainshaft Replacement [1959]

Hi,
I just rebuilt the overdrive that wasn't on my car and found a OD type tranny main shaft. I just pulled the tranny and am ready to disassemble and switch main shafts. Any good instructions for swapping out the main shaft with minimal disassembly? I have rebuilt engines but never a transmission. The transmission has been shifting fine. The OD main shaft cam for the OD pump fits on snugly but is not a press fit. What holds it in place? Also, are there some things I should absolutely do when I have it apart?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Chuck
PS I do have a B.M.C. workshop manual.

do a search on Youtube for Austin Healey transmissions. I think there are 2 or 3 on the internals. It was detailed enough for me to rebuild a transmission.

One thing to note from your initial request, there won't be anything like a "minimal disassembly", it'll be a full rebuild. So along with the shaft replacement do all needles and shaft roller bearings as well. Might as well start out with everything like new when done.

I haven't embraced doing any videos on the subject, but I do have some side-shift pictures that you might benefit from:

Thanks Randy. Your image 7338 shows the abutment collar retaining ring and main shaft circlip. Moss shows the retaining ring as N/A. Any idea on where I could get one?
thanks,
chuck

I would think that anyone with a torn down xmsn (for parts) should be able to supply you with one. Unfortunately, I do not, but anybody that breaks up Healeys for parts should.
