We were headed to Route 66

Driving through Wyoming is deadly boring, but it's usually possible see pronghorn antelope along the way. Did you see any?
Yes we saw several at a distance and again in Nebraska although I didn't know what they were. Those hunters could have left the toys at home and shot them out the window on 80. Also raced coal and container trains.

Saw some unique rest stops in Nebraska.

Currently holed up at Viking Lake in SW Iowa. No one has mentioned leaving.

This was our last campsite at Viking Lake

As an afterthought I snapped a couple shots out the window on the way home thru Iowa.

... but it's a bit of a letdown. I left the Route 66 maps in the van.

Very pretty--more rolling than I would have thought.

Typical of most of southern Iowa, northeast even hillier, Interstate 80 flat, north central and western flater.

And it didn't take long to find the Penny Farthing Guy that I didn't imagine after all. https://twitter.com/JoffSummerfield. Watch the link to Salt Lake TV, makes our little trip sound lame in comparison to this guys lifestyle.
