After our 1,580 mile roundtrip to the Texas Healey Roundup in Stephenville, TX this spring I decided it was finally time to find out what the problem was with the oil in the radiator. As it turned out, the head was warped and after fixing that things have been running great. By the way, the MPG for the TX trip was 17.65.

Last Sunday we returned home from a 2,515 mile trip to Conclave in VA and a family wedding in eastern OK. While we had a wonderful time at Conclave seeing old friends the highlight of the trip was the 18 ½ hour, 1,037 non-stop run from Hot Springs, VA to Poteau, OK. We left Hot Springs at 6:00 am and arrived in Poteau at 11:30 pm. Miss BT ran fantastic with nary a sign of oil in the radiator. The MPG for the Conclave trip was 20.78.

Both trips included a mix of two lane rodes along with interstate cursing.

LOL, as opposed to cruising?

Actually, really poor proof reading!
For years when I was working we would do two/three day two lane roads to regional meets and then have to bust butt on the interstates on Sunday/Monday to get back to work. I've never minded running on the interstates at around 72 - 75 MPH. I find the vast majority of 18 wheeler drivers to be very couteous, much more so than 4 wheelers.
Miss BT has a Toyota 5 speed, a 3.54 rear end and is really a delight on the highway.

Hey Bob,
I salute you doing a 18 hour trip in the Healey !!! Last time I spent 18 straight hours in a car it was in 1967 in a 64 VW Bug driving from San Antonio, TX to St. Louis. Back was never the same after that trip and if I did it today in the Healey, would have to have a engine lift get me out. But at least it would be more fun than in a worn out Bug ! I have always admired those in our LBC world who do drive their cars long distances and your recent trips surely add to that admiration.
Regards,
Mike
