TR5/TR250 New TR250

VERY NICE! Yea for you guys! I think everyone of us is jealous! Retirement just gets better and better! I look forward to watching your progress!

Well after a failed attempt at painting the 250 in the garage, that did not turn out the way I would have liked. There were a couple of problems. 1 ya gotta mix the paint and reducer at proper ratios. I should have called the paint supplier and got the info from them. Instead I went on the internet, (it's never wrong). Yes I got the wrong info...... The color looked good but there was orange peel, I only used one part reducer instead of four parts. But that wasn't the worst part. The worst was having Valienca blue mist all over everything. I took all of the percautions... Long story short , I called my painter friend Jason. A little sanding and the proper spray booth (and having experience ). The 250 is now back home from getting new paint from Jason. I did not listen to my own advice "Let the Pro's do it" I will post later on the finished paint. First we have to watch the 49er's beat the Seahawks.

Yes Don
The Paint did turn out a little better than the 49er's game. Now the fun part of putting the 250 back together.

Looks great. That is one of my favorite Triumph colors. As is Delft Blue.

Hi Dan,

Your TR250 is looking Super!

When I was restoring (Nut & Bolt, Body Off); My `57 Small Mouth; I had her painted an "Ivory" such as yours with a "Dk. Burgundy Wine" Int. What a great color combo. Not to take away from the TR250 but would you post a pic or two of your TR3.

Thanx Much,

Russ

Here you go Russ. The color of the Tr3 is Navajo beige. It is a stock VW color.

You said you were looking for a Spitfire and stumbled across this TR-250. What fabulous luck! I never have that kind of good fortune. The car looks terrific and Terry looks very happy seated in it.

The Tr 259 was painted on January 17th. Got it home and set the tub back on the frame. So far all four wings are on as well as the doors. gas tank in and plumed. Dash and wiring almost done. The boot lid goes on today (Moss was delivered yesterday). Windscreen frame is mounted but no glass yet. Doors need some minor alingment. Still looking for TR250 rims here on the west coast. Waiting for the alum. radiator and the makunie carbs. I hope they will be delivered this week. The bumpers go in on tuesday for rechroming. (I will call you Pat G.) when i get the cost on the chrome. Getting there .........

Jerry
yes, I will be done. I am taking all the chrome pieces to the chrome shop tomorrow. I hope to have the dash complete by the end of the week. Then interior...........

Electrical is done, new tires and hub caps. Windshield is in. Now on to the interior. Is there any secrets or some thing I should know before I get in to the installition? Or is it pretty straight forward?

Interior is pretty straight forward. Getting the upholstery on the rear fender wells was a little frustrating, I just did several dry fits before applying the adhesive.

On the wheel arches, Did you trim the padding so that the seam of the padding matches the seam of the vinyl?
