TR4/4A Source for air duct seal?

NLS at all the regular places. I'm looking for a suitable replacement rubber seal between the air duct and the plenum, part no. 610639. Perhaps a section of trunk seal would do. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Cliff

It looks to be a uniquely shaped part.

Since it should be a static seal I think your idea of using a length of tubular seal should work. Since I have not seen the actual parts I can only speculate that you might also be able to use some of that sticky-backed foam seal tape that is sold at home-centers. I know that is available in different widths and thicknesses. You might find that easier to shape and install depending on the mounting surfaces you have to work with.

Do you have a piece of the old one?

Yes, I have the old one(s). One is crumbling but the other side is OK. I'll see if I can match a cross section to something in Steele's catalog. I don't think it has to be custom molded, it fits around the end of the duct, so as long as it will bend around a curve I think a straight piece can be made to work.

There is another company too
I think Randy from WISSconSIN posted it

Call Scott Harper @ Team Triumph in Warren, OH 330-392-7176 after 11:00AM most days. Good guy and has lots of used parts.

That's disappointing to hear that seal is NLS.

I think these were originally made with at least one join glued together with impact glue.

I rather fancy its two pieces and they meet at the sharp corners and are mitred.

The material needs to be foam and very squashy. If think the kind of chunky anti-draught strip we put around doors might work.

I picked up some 1" wide self-sticking weatherstrip at the Home Depot, I'll let you know how it works out.

Got the job done today. Closed cell rubber weatherstripping around the plenum openings, and sections of trunk seal around the ducts. It closed up nicely.

That is good news. My TR4 would benefit from having Item No. 27 (https://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29195&SortOrder=300) replaced, also. Could you be more specific about the "sections of trunk seal," please?

Gerald, #27 is a felt strip, roughly 1/4" thick and 1" wide. Its glued to the outside of the duct all around. The rubber seal between the duct and plenum is #23 (NLA). I used sections of #52 here: (https://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29165#52)
