Half way?

I think I'm at the half way point now because the car is completely together and working. (Well, maybe with the exception of a few weather strips...)

That's right, I'm done with the restoration portion of this project.

Now I can start to drive it, and fix what breaks. I took a friend to lunch today. I stopped by the paint shop and they were so happy to see all those materials put to such good use. I stopped by and visited some old people in a home, and they were pleased as punch -one lady remembered seeing an old Elvis movie with "my" car in it...

As of this morning, all the parts have been put on the car. I even added 4-way flashers, and a 3rd (LED) brake light. The tiny spare has room for the jack alongside it. I finally got the air out of the brake lines, the steering centered, stronger return springs on the H6Ss, and I'm not sure what to do now... but drive.

Thank-you to everyone who helped me along the way. This is a great forum and my car is an example of what a community can accomplish.

It needs to be christened, since it is also a watercraft! Definitely a real accomplishment getting her back on the road.

So, where is that road trip too?
 
Thanks John. The road trip is from Spring, Tx to Portage, Pa. About 1,400 miles each way. We will stop to visit family in Cumberland Furnace, Tn on the way up and Washington D.C. on the way back. Maybe a stop in Nags Head, N.C. too. We plan to start the trip October 23 and be there for my fathers 90th birthday on the 25th. The wheels need to keep moving as my wife doesn't have much time off work. I am looking at something that might do as a temporary side curtain, in case we find snow or rain along the way.

I remain optimistic, and plan on a perfect adventure. What could possibly go wrong?
 
That'll be beautiful! You should catch the leaf change along the way...maybe along the Blueridge Parkway if you're lucky. Be sure to post plenty of pics as you go. Do you plan to swing through MS to show off the car to the PO? I bet he'll flip!
 
Congratulations and wonderful to see a TR3 rescued and back on the road!

4 months ago the TR3 body was not on the frame. It was primed, but not painted. 2 weeks ago, I drove 400 miles in it from Spring to Austin and back. 4 days from now, I plan to be in Pennsylvania in it. This afternoon, TRF's ribbed heater hoses are expected. I have dry fitted the heater and ducted the air hoses to the defrosters. I stole an idea from Geo and TR4nut and made myself (my wife really) a set of snap on side curtains. I have 800 miles since 'new', re-torqued the head, re-packed the wheel bearings, re-bled the brake lines, re-adjusted the valves, re-aligned the front end, re-balanced the wheels, and changed the oil. The present forecast (I have not shared with my wife) is calling for snow flurries the day of our expected arrival. We have a long road ahead of us, but I've come a long way already. We hope to stop in Bay Saint Louis on the return trip and show the car to the previous owner (who gave me the car).

Am I half-way there yet?

We are stopping in Cumberland Furnace for a night, both ways, to stay with my wife's brother on Leino Rd. We are also stopping just outside D.C. and taking the subway in, to visit with my wife's daughter, living in D.C.. We have a very tight trip planned, as we need to get back for work. -Basically we are driving a long way to be with my dad when he turns 90, and we crammed in what extra we could. But, please PM me with your phone numbers, in the chance I need something while I am there. It is such a small world, but it is nice to know there are others in it like myself.
