I heard an odd mild 'groaning' sound, that may be clutch-related and wondered if anyone had any insight.
Shifting up and down is normal, except that the clutch is now engaging quite high in the pedal. It's been apparent for some time that I have to replace the clutch soon. Hoping that it will last the season, I've been driving regularly, with no issues except for the sound I heard last night. The sound does not occur shifting up or down - the master and slave clutch cylinders are making no noise. However, at speed, when I depress the clutch and allow the car to coast in anticipation of a stoplight, I get a mild groaning sound coming from the general vicinity of the gearbox. With the engine off and the car stationary, I can shift up and down through the gears with no noise apparent.
Has anyone else encountered this before? Is it just the clutch in its final death throes?
