It'll be in the garbage or a corner of the shop, not behind the parts counter. Go talk to the service manager or a tech. Bring a 6 pack of non speciaty beer and show up about 15 minutes before closing.


JP is dead on, ask for "take off" mufflers.
 
That's exactly how I did it for Bugsy. A Freebie from the back of the shop. Too nice to throw away but no one wanted it.

I'll check mine. I can't believe they're such knot heads they cant hand you a muffler out of a pile. It's gotta be a blow-off, no other reason other than stupidity. :rolleyes:
 
Who you talking to, parts or service? Did you tell them it doesn't matter as it's not going on a bike?
 
I finally got one like the ones you other have found. Punched out the center plug so you can see straight through it. Installed it this afternoon and went for a drive. Bit of noise as I accelerated but fairly quiet as i cruise down the road.
 
Hollar when you want to do the baffle mod. It's stupid quiet for a straight through muffler especially at idle. i have a vid but can't post it. Anyone want to post it for me on youtube? I'll email it to ya.

has anyone seen a change in MPG in going with the change to use this harley muffler (center plug punched out)?
In other words has anyone see a change in going with a straight through exhaust system?
 
No but Bugsy does feel and sound a bit more "Spritely"

I got more power but milage is the same which doesn't really say anything.
