Both Lowes and Home Depot have 10% discounts for military and veterans, but Lowes also has this, which Home Depot doesn't. It's a nice extra convenience.

How do you show that you are a veteran? When/where do you need to have served to qualify?
Would be interested to know.
I'm not sure how they ensure that someone is a vet who is parking there, but I have veterans plates so that should be sufficient. If a vet parks there without any visible signs they are a vet, I'm not sure how Lowes would make sure they are a vet. My guess is it's just the honor system. It's just a courtesy and I doubt that they vigorously enforce it. Someone would really have to be a slug to park in a veteran's space if they were not a vet (yes, there are such people, but I think they are the exception rather than the rule).

There's an MP on duty, to whom a DD214 must be shown before being allowed to park there.

I have a USN tag frame around my truck tag and use the veteran parking spaces at Lowes, plus I registered for the 10% discount. I've saved quite a bit over the years. Most of my Navy buddies are gone now for various reasons. I enjoyed the Navy life, but with a wife and two babies, I accepted a discharge after 5 years. Shipboard duty keeps one away from family too long.

I get the 10% discount from Lowes, Home Depot, Auto Zone, O'Reilly's and several local eating establishments around town. Oh, and also get my hair cut at a discount.

I get my haircut at a discount, also! My wife does it! :ROFLMAO:

There's a restaurant that we go to a lot for breakfast (Ruth's Place) near
Rocky Mount,VA that has a Vet parking spot,& gives a discount to vets, the way
it should be.
I often wear the United States Naval Academy sweatshirt that our Son who
graduated from there gave me.On of the waitresses often tries to give me the
discount,or asks me if I'm a Veteran.I always tell her that I'm not,& will pay the
difference if she accidentally does give it to me.I tell her that I'm going to have
a tee shirt made up that says "I AM NOT A VETERAN".
