Follow My Spriget Blog As I Complete SpyderMite

I received the cut down grill from Bugeye Guys. It comes powder coated with 1/8 inch mounting studs that take push on speed nuts. I threaded the studs and will use nuts and lock washers. The grill will get coated a satin titanium or medium grey to match the other bright work. The grill stands a little proud because of the nuts and washers. Also, the black stripes will be replaced with titanium or medium grey.

The Spyder-Mite is getting new seat adjusters this week as I try to finish the interior. The old seat adjusters were to worn and rusty to work correctly. I looked at Moss and eBay and settled on ones from Bugeye Guys because they are the only ones I could find with ball bearings. They are a quality product but do require drilling new holes and cutting off some studs. Photos coming as soon as I get the passenger seat ready to install.

Friday and Saturday I'm off to a Sprite graveyard to try and locate a four bolt rear axle assembly. I'm planning to replace my wire wheels with Minilites. Anyone looking to convert from steel wheels to wires I may soon have everything you need, rear axle assembly, front hubs, and five wire wheels with new tires. I also have spare orginal door window glass and regulators from a 1965 Sprite.

There’s a guy over on the Sprite Forum which is a subsection on the Austin Healey Experience web site who is considering going from steel wheels to wires. His thread is titled BE/Midget Parts.
You may want to give that a look.

I referred him to your thread here over a week ago.

Thanks. I left a pm for him.

No actual work completed on Spyder-Mite in the past two days but I did pick up a four lug bolt rear axle assembly and extra later model axles, a 3.90 differential in poor condition (for $20) and a factory racing exhaust header. If this 3.90 does not work I have yet another one located but I need to verify it's actually 3.90. I'm one step closer to converting from wires to alloy wheels. This gives me enough to convert to alloys now.
