Help ...

I am trying to make my door fit on my BJ7. Annoyingly it was fitting OK, but the leading edge of the door was not straight and I couldn't look at it any longer, so I took the door off to sort that. When I took it off I noticed the door hinges were very stiff and so I bought a new set of hinges.

Now I can't get the top front edge of the door to come out far enough were it meets the front wing. I have tried adjusting both hinge mounts on the door and the door pillar, but I cant get the door to come over enough. I reckon it needs to come over another 5mm.

Before I start butchering the holes in the door post to allow me to slide the door over more, does anyone have any suggestions?
Other than that, the gaps all round look OK. I have fitted a few packers behind the top hinge which helped get the door lifted for the catch.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Even though all the hinges are suppose to be identical. they are not. (Yes, I know the upper hinges on BJ7's are different than the lower ones.) I think Jensen may have "massaged" them on individual cars to get doors to fit right.

Did you try to lubricate and loosen up the original hinges? Maybe replace the pins.

I have it on good authority that replacement hinges are sometimes warmed up and adjusted by bending or straightening as required. If memory serves me right there is a captive sliding plate that has been drilled and taped to receive the screws behind the A post and in the door frame, if there is enough play on the plates, elongating the holes in the frames may sort the problem out. I see that you need the thread size, I will examine the spares that I hold and will advise.
Cheers

Hi, thanks all, i have it sorted now, i put the old original hinge back on but also packed the hinge away from the door with some washers, this meant the door swung out further and hence missing the leading edge of the front wing.
I wanted to replace the bolts holding the hinge onto the pillar with hex head ones so i can tighten up more, does anyone know the size of these <
