Hi, and thanks for accepting me into the group. I'm a long-time petrolhead who purchased a newly (professionally) built Lenham Le Mans Sprite last summer. It's quite highly spec'd with a 1310cc engine, flowed/ported head, 11:1 compression ratio, twin 1 1/4" SUs and big bore exhaust. Built for sprints and hill climbs, the original owner who commissioned the build wasn't able to compete due to illness and I bought it from him as a fun road car. I'd driven it less than 500 miles when I somehow managed to lose a screwdriver bit in one of the carb inlets (how and why is another story!). The result was impact damage to the combustion chamber, valve seats and a piston top. I've just completed the re-build and all's well once again. So over the last couple of months, I've learned a great deal about the A series! I've included a photo so you can see what all the fuss is about and hope you agree, it's a pretty little beast. You don't see many outside the competition environment.

what a great car! and glad all is sorted again. welcome

Welcome to the British Car Forum. Nice car you have! You are not the first to drop something into the intake. I bought a TR6 many years ago. Once I got it running I heard a distinct metal ping. I did a leak down test and discovered #3 exhaust valve was leaking.
I pulled the head and discovered a lock washer laying on top of the piston. The previous owner dropped it into the intake

Wow, that's really cool! Bet it's a blast to drive! Welcome to BCF!
It’s a very engaging experience. The engine pulls hard and uprated suspension with 6” wheels with super soft Toyo road/track tyres give excellent road holding. It feels very much at home on the UK’s winding country lanes. Even better, when you think you’re doing 90 and the speedo shows 50, and you realise your licence is safe too! Oh one other thing: it’s fitted with the Type 9 5-speed box and 3.7 diff so motorway/freeway travel is…let’s say....bearable.

Thanks for the welcome. In your case, at least you can say it was the previous owner!
