TR4/4A Tire saver ramp recommendations

Hi,

Can anyone recommend tire saver ramps for storing my TR4A through the winter? The car has wire wheels and the garage surface is smooth concrete. In reading product reviews, it seems that many have a slipping issue. Moisture isn’t a problem as I live in a high desert climate. I was more concerned about preventing flat spots on the tires.

Just my two cents, but if you're worried about tire flat spots from sitting, I'd recommend you use four jack stands instead of resting your tires on any "tire saver" hardware.

I have not had a flat spotting problem on my TR3, which sits on a smooth concrete floor for 6 months at a time. I've been storing it that way for 10 years. Nor do I have a problem on my Jeep Cherokee, which sits for the same periods as the TR. Nor do I have such a problem on either of my boat trailers, which sit for six months at a time. My swamp buggy trailer also sits for six months at a time. It is a 5000 pound beast on a 3000 pound trailer. The trailer tires are 12 or 16 ply rated and they do develop a flat spot. However, after warming on the road for 2 or 3 miles, those flat spots go away and can no longer be felt.

You could also roll the car one foot forward for a week, then two feet backward for a week. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Several years ago I bought some dollies from Harbor Freight (yes, yes I know…) which weren’t expensive and not only do they cradle the tires but give you the ability to move the car around. It’s more work than those drive-on things but they do work quite well.

+1 on the dollies. It is how I get three cars into a two car garage in the winter. Although, I do admit winters in central Alabama are not exactly severe.

It is! I was looking for one that wasn’t trashed for about 12 years. This one popped up for sale about a mile from my house just a few months ago. 80k miles, all original no dents or rust. It’s a unicorn. Triumph parts are much easier to source.
