Had an appointment at the VA at 8;330 this AM Fog and traffic factors but made it early... to the wrong facility!
Made a call, rescheduled for a date in January. Idiot mistake number one.
The local Veterans Park was to have a Pearl Harbor Commemoration event at 10:30, again the traffic and fog issues. Some fool did a stupid thing and I waited in stop-and-go traffic making a twenty minute trip back to th' hovel take over an hour.

Plan was to grab both D7500 bodies, put a wide-angle 10~20 on one, an 18~140 on the other. Pulled Mitsy's camera body out, put the long lens on that, the wide on mine. Got to the event a bit late but early enuff to get most of it covered. Back to the hove, insert the card from her camera and... I've nothing but shots of polar bears in a blizzard at high noon. I never checked her settings, she'd been using her camera in manual, low light settings. I have a -4 diopter on my camera. hers is a +3, I didn't see the info in the viewfinder! All I got for the effort was the wide-angle shots. Just now told her she married an idiot.

An argument for chimping. I would guess that your camera will also display a histogram by pressing the down arrow. My worst mistake in recent history was going to a shoot while the memory card was still home in the computer.

Yeah, for whatever reason the chimping thing didn't occur to me at the time. Making 'rookie mistakes' is really embarrassing. THAT one won't see a repeat.

The card thing occurred to me when I first got the DSLR's, I got us both extra cards to be carried in pocket or bag. That I did have in a pocket, not knowing how much room was on hers... but in the rush to get to the event it was a grab-n-go situation, wasn't going to spend time checking.

"Shoulda-woulda-coulda". Lesson learned. Wonder what the next faux pas will be!

WRT the card thing, I got a couple "Kiwi" card "wallets." Pocket or bag, convenient. Aluminum cased.

She didn't disagree, did she? :p
Of course I never make such stupid mistakes. Like, for example, I would never start out on a trip to take Milky Way shots and half way on an 11 hour trip realize that I'd left my Star Tracker at home. I would never do that!

Disagree? with ME? Never. 😏

I just precluded any future mix-up with "borrowing" another (Her) camera. Found a D7200 body on Ebay just down the road and purchased it. That body accommodates earlier AF optics (non-DX), so opens up a bit more choices for "cheap" older lenses too.

I like the waterproof idea for the card carrier. More for the dust/dirt aspect than water.

The D7200 uses the same battery and cards as the D7500, a consistency I paid a bit more than I'd like but it made sense.
