Yeah, winter lasts two days down in Doc's world...

Embouchure is definitely the hard part of picking a wind instrument back up after years away. I found that, like you, my fingers remember what to do but I need to do embouchure exercises each time I pick it up. I need to play more because a couple of times a month aren't cutting it on building that back up.Back in jr. high and high school I played trumpet. Junior year of high school the band director switched me over to baritone; said I'd do better with it. (Still believe to this day he was long on trumpet section; short on baritones.)
Anyway, long story short, that and moving from Shreveport to New Orleans and a new high school my senior year ended my trumpet playing. Several years ago I thought I'd give it another try. Good friend and excellent trumpeter found me a really nice Getzen Severinsen trumpet, so I took the plunge. Played a while and was surprised at what I remembered as far as fingering the notes, but the embouchure just wasn't to be had. So I sold the trumpet.
Banjo and guitar for me now.
