TR2/3/3A Photo of front TR3 carb linkage

Does anyone have a photo of the TR3 front SU carb linkage. I did a search but could not find one. My throttle seems to work smoothly (putting it back together after a total rebuild), but the short connecting rod from the linkage bell crank has a strange angle to the front carb throttle connector. Doesn't bind, but I'm not sure I have it right.

Stu - here's a good photo and discussion of that linkage. It's not exactly intuitive!

TR2/3/3A - TR3 choke cable connection help needed

For a TR3A, could someone post a picture showing how the choke cable connects to the cable support, i.e. "LINK, front jet lever, w/bolt & nut" (#60 in Moss catalog for H6 SU carb), and to the bottom of the front carb JET LEVER, (#33 in Moss catalog) along with pieces that clamp the cable wire...

Tom, thanks for the photo. I do think I have the choke linkage correctly set up, but it's the throttle linkage (especially from the front bell crank to the front carb throttle link) that I'm a little confused about. I appreciate the support.

Did you just get a new bell crank?

The legs are not the same length and the one I got from one of the parts houses was set up the wrong way around. I ended up making my own as the parts house in question was not interested in fixing the problem. "That is all we have ever sold" was the response.
The mounting bracket was wrong as well.
I have made a couple of extras.

The linkage rod sits at about a 60 degree angle and looks wrong. The short linkage rod looks like it is going to rub on the side of the carb and will if you do not push the clamp down and force the rod away from hitting the carb. Basically you need to push the short linkage down and away from rubbing and then tighten the brass clamp and that is correct and as good as it gets. I will try and get a pic today.

Thank you Steve. That makes me fell much better. I think I've got it adjusted correctly. Have attached a couple of pics.

David, I have the original bell crank, but if I didn't, I'd be asking you for shipping info for one of yours. You do excellent work. Thanks for the help - this forum is extremely valuable for old British car lovers.

My TR3A came with 2 bell crank linkage assemblies but both were worn out so I ordered a new one from one of the parts houses. It was a waste of money so I made my own. I did recycle the new one by reversing the boss but had to make the part that bolts to the manifold.

Hi Stu I hooked mine up different than you, but that is not to say yours is wrong. I have always done mine this way, but never compared mine to anyone’s. The way I did looks straight forward, but again carb linkage on a tr3 is non-logical sometimes. I would like to see others before I commit.

On second look I think we did it the same and my linkage arm is longer or I pushed mine down farther before I tighten the nut on the brass arm. My linkage was new from TRF and might not be correct where as yours looks stock.
