Do you display trophies with your cars?

Looking at some show photos, people have their trophies on display with the car. I don't do that as I think it's tacky! I have two large boxes packed full of them but got tired of cleaning them so put them away. But, that's just me. :cowboy2: :sorry:

I have a bunch of trophies and plaques out in the garage on some shelves (great dust and cobweb collectors). I had one in particular that was a "people's choice" award that was literally 3.5 feet tall. The last time I did a garage cleaning (couple months ago) I finally disassembled that monstrosity and tossed all but the plaque that sat in top. I have never displayed past trophies along with my cars when I was showing. It never occurred to me to do that, but I don't have a problem with people who want to do.

Had a couple autocross dash-plaques in my first MG, never put any on the Elan's wood dash. No trophies.

Wait, you guys win trophies?

I usually move the trophies along with the car. Never displayed trophies at a car show, as most judges know what the car has done off of the entry list. Too me this seems to be more of an east coast thing?

Slightly off topic.

Display boards with the story of the car and photos. How big should it be?

I have a board with 3 photos 81/2" by 11" and a few lines of explanation.
For Christmas last year my daughter and son in law did a display. He does adverts for companies as a second job. It is great but it is 6' tall and at least 3' wide. Have never used it as I feel it is over the top. Pity because he did a great job on the photos.

I am inclined to agree about the size - not just in terms of 'image' but also in terms of taking it with you. I figure if it doesn't fit handily in the car you shouldn't bring it. I have seen guys at crusie nights who have a few trophies in the backseat but, mostly I figure they should stay at home. I have a group of plaques that I have won and they all rest in a 'display pile' leaning against the wall on the top of a bookcase in my office.

I'd want a board that would easily fit behind the seat or in the trunk. If you've got to strap it to the roof then it's too big.

I guess I'll start worrying about that when I start winning trophies.

Nope I do not do that.

We display a few awards as a part of the display at Triumphest. We used the cover of the Victoria British catalog once. Yeah, bragging but it looked good. the shows we go to can't afford those tall trophies.

There was a guy at the All British Field Meet in Portland,Oregon, who
had a MK I Ford Zephyr. He displayed a couple of Black & White pictures of
the car.There was a guy standing next to it,in period clothing,including a
narrow tie.
When I looked at them I said - "Wait....that's you".
He just smiled.

A vampire! I bet he lives in Portland because there's no sun there.
