Low-Profile Electric Puller Fans

Has anyone found a low-profile electric “puller” fan for between the radiator and water pump (without the metal fan).

Also, an aftermarket shroud for the engine side of radiator?

I have an AC condenser in front of my radiator and a pusher fan does not efficiently push air through the condenser and radiator. A puller is much more effective.

Thanks

This is the narrowest I could find: > Maradyne 14in Electric Fan <

I found this. Wizard has a similar setup, but is a pusher. I’m going to contact both of these suppliers.

Cape has one with a radiator that is a puller. I assume that it fits since it’s for the six-cylinder Healeys. One thing is missing is a shroud, but may not be required. The fan is 2 1/16” thick.

I have just changed to an aluminum radiator with pusher fan and it was a huge failure. After staring at the whole package for 2 or 3 hours it occurred to me that simple brackets could be made to move the top of the radiator forward about 1 1/4 in. and spacers could move the lower mounts the same distance increasing the space between water pump and radiator.

What was the “huge failure”?

Been there and done that....Custom design, fabricated and installed. Race tested and proven!

My effort to gain better cooling with a Chinese aluminum radiator also failed and it is for sale. But I write to say that British Car Specialties in California sells a two-piece steel fan shroud manufactured in Australia. I installed one on my BN7, which has a Texas Pusher fan, and it seems to have been to some benefit. Needless to say, living in Florida means engine temperature is always a potential concern with Healeys. I bolted the top ends the newly purchase shroud to either end of the red-painted protective piece that mounts on the engine side of the radiator. Pretty easy installation. Bottom ends use existing bolting points. Ever notice how Healey engine cooling elicits so many responses?

The Wizard with fan. $719.00
If they can do a pusher why can’t they do a puller!?

Yep, this is what I just installed. It works great with the Texas cooler mechanical fan. sits between 190-195. Complaints about Wizard. 1 Metric threads on mounting lugs so get new bolts. 2. No petcock supplied and so far no luck finding one that is correct threads metric or other wise. 2. For that price They could have tossed in #'s 1 & 2 and a radiator cap. The pusher alone was useless. It blocked so much flow the temp just kept creeping up.

Keeping fan noise down requires the use of unequal fan blades.

Enhancing the fans performance is achieved by incorporating a shroud

Don't care about that. Real world is engine runs better without mechanical fan and noise without mechanical fan is greatly reduced. Fan is just a passenger after 30 mph, shroud or not. Aluminum radiator keeps 190-195 as long as air moves through it. A pleasure-driven street car needs a shroud like a fish needs a bicycle.

I've got nothing but good things to say about Wizard. Keeping a V8 cool in a Healey isn't an easy task, especially considering the space considerations that limit the size of a radiator that will fit. All the info I could find said a pusher fan isn't ideal as it blocks incoming airflow. Wizard worked with me to modify their Healey radiator to move the inlet to the opposite side to match the Ford water pump and add a shroud to work with the Maradyne fan I mentioned above as a puller. Their workmanship is top shelf with some beautiful welds.

This is what improved my cooling this season...........original radiator w\baffles\10" pusher fan-thermostat. Ambient temps have been 80's and 90's F.

Drain and flush........with,
https://www.autozone.com/antifreeze...estone-radiator-flush-cleaner-22oz/223022_0_0

Add 50\50 Prestone coolant and Water Wetter.

Removed front license plate which may have been impeding airflow at speed?? Ohio no longer requires front plate.

Engine in tune and timing correct using premium Sunoco fuel. Slowly creeps past 190 in
traffic but quickly cools and stays in the 180's(185 thermostat).

5 plus degrees improvement. Best cooling I've seen in years.

(Was that front license plate, located center bumper, blocking that much air at speed??)
