BJ7 Hard Fuel Lines

Hope everyone is safe and healthy. I am trying to replace the fuel lines on my BJ7 and I am at a loss at the moment. I ordered pre-bent lines from classic tube but upon receiving they are not correct. I am talking to them and sending pics of my originals, not complete, for hopefully the correction needed. I have taken the lines on and off a few times. This is my main reason for the post. I am not 100% positive my lines are correct as they look to have been bent, not professionally, at certain points. I know at a couple of points there have been changes.

1.Going to the pump the last mounting, bracket, point is under the front lip of the rear seat. Is this correct? After that point they run towards the pump but are cut off before they curb back to pump and banjo fittings.
2. Running towards carbs at the point the fuel line crosses the crossmember before going up to the inner fender has been cut out and rubber line added (part of the reason for replacing lines).

Has anyone replaced their lines and happen to have measurements, reference points, diagrams, etc.? Long shot I know but this forum has been one of my best resources. Wanting to get the best information to send Classic Tube. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Bryan

Bryan,
Since no one has come forward...suggest calling British Car Specialists in Stockton, CA and see if they have a restoration photo series which includes what you want.

When you get down to it - don't you need pictures of the fuel lines at the pump and the line coming up to the carbs? Isn't what happens along the frame rails just a matter of finding the holes for the clips and bending the line accordingly? BCS also sells the fuel line and brake line clips.

If you can wait, I can get photos of a BJ8's original fuel system tomorrow. I think BJ7s used HD8s, no? If not, the fuel lines should be much the same anyway. The problem you'll have is the BJ8 fuel lines connect to the pump with banjo fittings--which are usually cut off when owners install aftermarket pumps--which are sweated-on (soldered), and I've not seen them for sale anywhere (doesn't mean no one has them).

Edit: The late Doug Reid--aka 'Mr. Finespanner'--used to sell complete fuel systems, though I don't know if he had BJX systems. We got a system for our BN2, which had been hacked-up by a PO when he installed one of those noisy Facet systems.

Bryan,
Here are some photos from a very original BJ7. I am also restoring a BJ7 and I am in the process of trying to fit the fuel lines
. I hope these help.

Was checking out pix in Anderson/Moment and the concours guide (no help there) and they show the BJ7 pipe to come up in front of the reservoir with a long hose going back to the front HS6 carb (p 153). P 156 sort of shows the strut which suspends the hose above the forward carb flange.

Steve,
Thank you for the reply. I did call BCS and they explained that they helped design the lines with Classic Tube. I have the original to the carbs from the frame. The pre-bent line is incorrect from the frame to the carbs so not sure if the miss is with classic tube. Tank to carb is wrong also and to your point I only have the original up to the point it passes the mounting clip under the rear seat lip. The new line does not have the bends to go under the lip so I am not sure exactly how far past the last mounting clip it needs to go and it is to long where it hugs under between the rear seats. I could not tell if mine was originally routed correctly from tank to carb.
Afraid some adjustments were made at some point. Why I was hoping someone had any kind of pics, etc. I will try BCS and see if they can help.
Thank you ,
Bryan

Bob,
Thank you for your willingness to take pics. I did get banjo fittings from British Car Specialist for the new lines. The BJ7 uses HS6 carbs which I rebuilt and was I trying to tune which ultimately led to the decision to replace the lines, one thing leads to another. Seems like I will never get the car on the road.
Thank you again,
Bryan

Greg,
Thank you so much that is helpful. Especially the pic going to the pump. Mine were cut off right past the mounting clip under the rear seat. Are these pics from your car? Where did you order your lines or are you running your own?

Sorry Steve and Bob I did not respond with the Quote as I should have. Getting better at it I hope.

Thanks Again sir,
Bryan

Steve,
Unfortunately I do no have the Anderson Moment Guide as of yet. The line to the inner fender is where I am having some issues. The line is bent wrong and goes the wrong way at the mounting clip on the inner fender. Greg's pics really helped at the pump as the new lines did not run under the lip of the rear seat. I think I can use his pics to show the routing to Classic Tube for around the pump.
The fitting to the fuel tank is wrong so I offered to send my , what I hope, originals to them. If that happens maybe that will be helpful for someone else.
Thank you again,
Bryan

Bryan,
The BMC parts book lists the solid lines from the front to fuel pump and from the fuel pump to tank with the same part numbers for the BJ7 and BJ8. The difference comes about at the flexible line before the carbies. I will be using the original steel fuel line and with a different flex line as I will be running BJ8 carbs. The pics are not from my car but from a friends. Please not the extra cut out switch which is reached from inside the cockpit.DCP00428 (2).jpg

Greg,
thank yo for the information. Really makes me think that classic bent them wrong. I will have to call them again as I sent pictures over the weekend but no response. I was wondering what that, cutoff switch, was but afraid I should know. Several things missing from my car as I am learning from these forums and various books.
Thanks again,
Bryan
