How to Remove the Exhaust Manifold?? [late BJ8]

I did indeed buy the MOSS SS offering...having no experience w/it, i was a bit dubious. So, i'm relieved and pleased to hear that it is working well for you.

Dougie, great to hear from someone in the hood!! I'm in Raleigh Hills. Let's get together and commiserate sometime soon. I'll reach out once I get her rolling again, and after my vacation...so stay tuned

Crispy, '67 BJ8, Portland, OR

Sweet, reach out anytime we have a good group ready to hit the twisty's when you get it road worthy......

I'm about to install the exhaust manifold. I've removed the old gasket and used a razor blade to clean the engine surface. I purchased a new gasket, which has the aluminum on both sides. Do I need to use any gasket sealer, like RTV red? If so, do I put it on both surfaces? Or no need for a sealer, just install the gasket.

Thank you.

It goes on dry unless you like the smell and smoke from burning sealant .

I R&R exhaust & carb manifolds 2-3 times a year over 15 years of racing and this always works. No smoke, smell etc., just a tight seal everytime.

Same as dougie, a light spray of the copper gasket spray. I use it lightly on the steel head gaskets too. Especially between aluminum heads and iron blocks. Never had a leak.

What about, Manifold to exhaust pipe?

Should have a gasket, I usually never used sealer there. Once, I used hardening Permatex paste, makes it harder to come apart.
