Which Lucas dynamo does a BJ7 have? A C45??

We've got our car tucked away for the winter, complete with a noisy dynamo. It's not at all accessible for the next few months and I wasn't smart enough to check which model Lucas dynamo I've got. Can anyone (kindly) advise if it was the C45, or some other model, that the BJ7 came with? Thanks, Doug
 
C 45 for AH 3000s including BJ 7's. Consider conversion to an Dynamator alternator which is design to look like our original generator (pic below). I purchased one for my BJ-7 from a Canadian-based distributor. This fun and worthwhile conversion also includes planning: NEGATIVE ground; modifying voltage regulator to a terminal block; running a 10G wire direct to battery lead (at solenoid); possibly switching wires on e-fuel pump and installing original generator pulley onto the Dynamator (I purchased the larger aluminum one from Denis Welch Motorsports). Understood. DWM's large pulley option is matched to original AH 3000 pulley dimension. The one I installed charges at 14.3V at 900 - 1100 RPM and about the same as the generator it replaced. At idle speeds anywhere between 400 to 700 RPM the Low (field) charge lamp does not glow - idle set at 650 RPM.

In addition to lots of surface area around the Dynamator case, those fins offer quite a bit of air circulation for cooling. I believe the Dynamator has Bosch internals.
 
I purchased a Dynamator (plus a relay and control box) from Brit Bits in Edmonton Alberta last winter, and forgot all about it until we fished the BJ7 out a few weeks back and I noticed the charge light wasn't going out. Found it, and will start installing tomorrow. fingers crossed! Doug
 
Gonzo: just ran into your comment on the steering issue that you Dyamator had packed it in. Did you learn why? stay with going back to the generator? Any advice regards the durability of hte dynamator? I think I'll have one driving season worth of warranty on it. Thanks, Doug
