Is it just me? Cheese Nips

Cheese Nips used to be very cheesy and flavorful but lately they seem to taste very bland - almost like lightly salted cardboard chips. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the reduction in cheesiness of Cheese Nips?

Hanging my head in shame, I have to admit I've never even heard of Cheese Nips until now.

Cheese-Its yes, but Cheese Nips ... no.

But crispy Cheetos - now *there's* a snack.

Oh you too?
and there seems to be more crunch less cracker per cracker
neit no good no more

Now that you mention it, they are smaller than they used to be. I used to make it a point to get Cheese Nips over Cheese-Its when I had a choice, but now they are equally bland.

Time for change? These are my go to....

I've never seen those. Are they regional?
Not sure if theyโ€™re regional. PM me an address and Iโ€™ll send you a bag to try.

I'm not sure I'd want to eat a pirates booty. I haven't had Cheese Nips in a day or two I switched to Gold Fish because my daughter prefers the latter.

Now that you mention them, I don't think Gold Fish are as "cheesy" as they used to be either.

I'm not sure about the Gold Fish as I always ate Cheese Nips up until about three years ago.

Sign of old age The older we get everything wears out, including the taste buds! PJ

This talk of snack crackers got me thinking about what we used to nibble on as kids. It strikes me as odd that I've not seen"oyster crackers" down here. Now gonna have to check the grocery stores more carefully.

First it was gasoline the heady aroma gone
then it was cereals
eggs in the USA not sure why pale tasteless yolks and butter they whip in so much air and water it jumps out of the pan
now our cheese nips whatโ€™s next

I always remember that a vastly prefer either cheese nips over cheez it's or vice versa, but I think it is the nips that taste like cardboard, and the cheez it's are more flavorful. Basil, maybe you suffer the same confusion, and switched cheese crackers without knowing it?

Maybe they are both bad now. But I think there are a couple of factors at work here, a lot of things don't taste as good to me as they used to. Perhaps it is a combination of some suppliers changing (cheapening) recipes and formulas as is the way of the world these days. But alas I think part of it is aging buds, no, not you guys, my internet buddies, my taste buds. I have tried to figure out the bud thing. Sweet and salty still seem to work pretty well, but savory is more hit or miss. You can imagine what effect this has had on my already poor eating habits.

and, yeah, not just taste buds - us buds as well.

Doc, my mom uses Nabisco oyster crackers when she makes meatloaf. I need to get that recipe before she dies.

I remember when I was a kid, my grandparents had "Trenton" crackers. Made in Trenton New Jersey. Great in chowder, best if broken apart to soak up the juices. :encouragement:
They would give them to us kids as a snack, from a kids point of view, not very tasty! :square:
