Verizon sucks!

So I just learned, quite by accident, that Verizon is blocking emails from my site. This means, than when someone registered here and they have a Verizon email address, they do Not get the notification email telling them that their account is approved. Similarly, if a Verizon customer try to request a password reset, they will NOT receive the reset email. I have worked Smith my server management team to ensure my email system on this site is is great shape as far as spam goes.

There is not valid reason for them to be blocking me!

When I try to ask them to Whitelist me using their online "Whitelist" form, they always reply with the same canned response that they are denying my request, but they don't tell me specifically why! They just give me a list of things it could be, but all the things in their list check out good.

There is apparently no way to contact any kind of help unless you are a Verizon customer - which I am not. This is extremely frustrating! The only way I can contact them is through their online Whitelist form, but they just keep sending me the same canned reply and NO specific info as to what the problem is!

It is maddening!

From what I've read on other forums (fora?), I believe that a common test for "spam" is many email messages with substantially the same content going to many addresses. So the problem may not be your notification emails at all, but the subscription emails that people (like me) have signed up for.

One workaround is for Verizon customers (who often don't have a choice as to their ISP, just another symptom of what's wrong with this country IMO) to set up an alternate email account on one of the 'free' email services, like Gmail and use that for BCF communication.

FWIW, I've heard similar complaints in the past from mailing list admins, regarding AOL and Yahoo. So it's not just Verizon (tho Verizon may be the last to realize that some people WANT to get the same emails as other people do  )

Verizon is no longer in the email business. I recently had to switch to AOL at their direction. I still have a Verizon.net address but have to use Alto. This has resulted in several emails that I used to get regularly being sent to spam. Mini Mania. AH Spares and the president of my car club to name a few. It seems to be happening less often now.

When I first moved to this new server with its new IP, I discovered that AOL was blocking me. I think I got that issue finally resolved, but if Verizon.net is really AOL maybe the problem with AOL has reoccurred.

I just checked on AOL's email test site and it says I have a "Good" reputation. However, I opening a ticket with them explaining that I'm having trouble with Verizon addresses, not AOL. Hopefully, if they are the ones who are actually handling Verizon.net addresses they might be able to help (fingers crossed). Verizon sure doesn't want to talk to me.
