MGB Popcorn, Anyone?

Upon removing the head on the engine that's going to be rebuilt for the Victor TF, this was found in #3 cylinder.

Now, how do you suppose whatever critter it was got it in there? Carbs and both manifolds were in place; head was torqued down, plugs also in place.

Good news is the cylinder walls look pretty good. Haven't gotten into the block yet, but think it'll be OK.

Honestly though, it probably got in there well before the carbs were installed.

When I bought the Victor, the seller told me he got this engine from a running '69 BGT. Pulled it and set it aside; been in storage with everything still attached for several years. Here's a picture when I got it home; I removed the starter, but everything else was still there. No corn around here, so the corn got there before I got it.

Open exhaust valve. Little mouse using the exhaust port to stock up for winter possibly.

That seems like the most likely, as the downpipe was still connected to the exh. manifold. Clever little critters!

I can't wait to see what's in mine. Lol. Shouldn't be much as the whole exhaust with mufflers has been attached. After I get my B all stripped down, my biggest problem is going to be how to get all the rat poop out of the passenger side trumpet piece under the fender. That's a tiny little opening, and it's 3 inches deep in there.

Oh, and then repairing the chewed up wiring harness. Uggh.

Thanks, Doug; it stays fairly clean, but cluttered. Need to get rid of a bunch of stuff!
