TR4/4A Door capping

Good morning...I think I know the answer, but did the 67 TR4a have door capping? Reading Original Triumph does not state if it did or not, just refers to 4 and then 250/5, but the 4a still had pull handles, so I'm assuming no caps?

Yep...Pull handles and caps (with no indentations).

Yes Rut. The 4A had door cappings. I installed new ones when I rebuilt mine. Later, when I had it professionally retrimmed, they left the caps off. I liked the extra width and they are a PITA to install so I left them off. I might be short but I have broad shoulders....

wow, that looks good! I have some extra veneer from a dash project and could cover a wooden cap.

This is part of that project. A completely custom steering wheel. All the wood was carefully chosen to match the dash, shift knob, and door caps. I won't finish this until this winter. The metal work; which is all p17 stainless chosen for it's strength and toughness.
I will be having access to this shop; https://www.sector67.org/blog/; which has a machine shop with a CNC mill and lathe as well as a complete metal working shop.

Really? I was told they easily glue on. I think TRF told me that. What makes it difficult?

They go between the door skin and the furry trim against the glass on the inside of the door. They are held by the same clips that you pull up using your home made U shaped tool. The extra thickness makes it even harder to install these clips. The lower flap inside is held by the door card and some of the clips and the screws that hold the pull handle. I could never get the bit at the back of the door to stay in place. I would be loathe to use glue in case you had to take them off again.
