TR6 Windscreen adjustment help for TR6

When I bought my car, the windscreen frame was off the car (The PO had ripped one of the brackets off - luckily there was no other damage.)The windows did not roll up or down due to bad guides and a stripped gear on the driver side. Both doors were not adjusted correctly. I have made all the repairs, but I am still trying to adjust everything. I figure I need to concentrate on the windscreeen frame first. My question is how can you tell you have adjusted the windscreen evenly on both sides? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Kevin. You and Norton (Mark) need to get together.

See my post with the picture. Maybe we can get together and we can help each other out.
Here's one measurement that can help.
P1010002.jpg

I used the edge of the aluminum cap as a reference point where it comes to a point.
Mine is currently at 26 3/8" on each side. They had been about 5/16" different with the right side tilted further aft.
Hope this helps

Roll up the windows, and adjust so they seat properly. But, as Mark found out, the top of the windscreen can move forward making attaching the top to the windscreen problematic. I too have some issues with proper alignment and I am still working it out. Fortunately for me, I have a hard top which aids in fixing the proper location of the windscreen.
Here is a picture of my problem.
(For some reason, Photobucket thumbnails seem not to work all the time, but if you click on the the square, it will open a new window.)
You will note the top of the door window is snug with a larger gap at the bottom. What is not shown in this picture is the rear of the door window which is low, leaving a large gap between it and the top.

Ray that's right. Then when you move the door up to align it right, that make the windscreen and door glass worse. Here's a photo of the right side and left side.

These were below the rear deck by at least an 1/8".
I will have to get a better shot, but now they are even.

But my soft top wont fit.

Opps heres what the right side looked like before adjusting the windscreen.

At the top it would not go behind the outer bulb seal and at actually moved the windscreen forward. At the bottom a healthy gap.

Hey Norton47(Mark), I would love to get together sometime - I think you are only an hour away. We could get together at your house or mine. My job pretty much owns me until mid June, and then I am off for 8 weeks. Let me know if you are interested.

When you think you have cranked the bracket nut enough, crank a little more. Too, TRF sells a handy extra sealing molding that glues on and looks like it belongs there. Seals the window against wind and rain. Pretty neat. Goes behind the sides of the frame, next to the fuzzy molding.

We should be able to get together. I have to go to Singapore in a couple weeks and then I will be back. I am sure we can work out something. I seem to have resolved my issues and I hope to be driving the 6 soon.
