Wipers Won't Stop

Took the Bugeye out of storage, hasn't been driven since 2014. Started up first push of the button, but here's the weird part. After a few minutes of running and a quick spin around the block, the wipers started on their own and won't shut off, despite the position of the switch. Never a problem before and it's a stock set-up with positive earth. I'm thinking it's likely a fault in the switch and it's getting power full time through the switch. Am I heading in the right direction or anyone else have any ideas? Frankly, I'm trying to avoid sticking my head under the dash cause it's not as easy to get back out as it once was.

Yep, it was the switch. Took it out, sprayed some contact cleaner at it (don't know how much actually got inside, seems pretty well sealed) and worked it back and forth a bit and all is good. My wife had a better solution. She said just take it out in the rain and they'd stop. Apparently she's picked up a few things being married to a guy with British cars for almost 40 years. :jester:

Rick, the switch just grounds the motor. The motor is hot all the time. If you can't find an obvious fault between the motor and the switch I would be suspecting an internal fault in the motor.

Whoops....looks like I was a bit late on the post. Glad you found it. As simple as those switches are I wouldn't suspect them but if disconnecting it would have cured the problem it would have been easy to trace down.

Yep, that was pretty easy. Getting ready for state inspection. Says I need working wipers (doesn't say they have to stop working, though.) Checked the lights, no left rear brake light and no right rear turn signal. New bulb fixed the brake light, but bulb didn't cure the turn signal and the old bulb works fine on the other side. Time to stare at the wiring diagram a bit

Batting .1000 today. Looked at the wiring bundle next to the flasher and noticed some acorns around the area where some furry LBC lover stored his cache. Cleaned them out and apparently in his excitement, the critter loosened the wire to the rear signal. Pushed it back into the connector and I'm off to get a sticker. Going to quit now, because when else can you go 3 for 3 in less than an hour?

My next guess was green on the connections.
