Aloha All,
I completed rewiring my TR3A and most everything is working fine. I need to replace the stop lamp switch, the circuit tests ok and I have lights when I jump over the switch. My bigger problem is the wiper motor will not run. It did work properly before I began installing a new wiring harness. I have tested voltage at the motor connections and have 12 V, checked the ground connection, 0 ohms and disconnected the wiper drive to remove the load fronm the motor, but it still doesn't run. I disassembled the motor and cleaned the commutator and bushes, they had alot of gunk on them. The motor has two power connections a green wire (12V when the ignition is on and I'm quessing is the power supply to the parking circuit) and a black/green wire supply 12 V when the wiper switch is turned on. There is a black ground wire from the motor frame to the car body. The motor is provided with an adjustable parking circuit that stops the blades in the same position regardless of when the switch is turned off. Through experimentation by adjusting the parking position, I've discovered that I can get the motor to run for one revolution of the large drive gear until it returns the the park position. The wiring to the parking circuit becomes very hot and I've seen whisps of smoke from connection(the dome on the drive housing). It would appear that I have a short somewhere in that parking circuit. Does anyone have suggestions on further testing, rewiring the parking circuit or is it possible to remove it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I couldn't help myself, I took the car for short cruise around the neighborhood. I an anxious to fix these electrical problem to begin drive the Triumph regularly.

Dave
