Who Names their classic cars?

ok my wife and i argued about my naming my MG
she thought it was silly to say the least

but now Nigel is a member of the family
my kids even made him his own christmas stocking

so im asking how many of us have named our cars?

My 1978 MGB is Maggie (Margaret Elizabeth).

My 1969 MGC is Vicky (Victoria).

Have yet to name the V8 nor the 1968 MGC.

One has a nickname (MGB, The Flying Raisin) and one has a name from the previous owner (MGBGT, Cedric). The other three are referred to as "the TC" "the YB" and "the A".

Some I have and some I've not. Mainly 'cause some deserve names. Like ships.

I haven't named my 77 midget yet, I'm toying with Big Red (in honor of the Razorback mascot) or Bradley (Because he's about the size and color of a Bradley Tomato (another Arkansas favorite!)

My old TR4A was "snydley" after Snydley Whiplash, from Rocky and Bulwinkle. And we've dubbed our new Scion XB "Oliver" after Oiver Evans, who invented the first refrigeration machine.
My buddy in College had a Ford van we called Hector... It just needed a name and that one fit. and my friend down the street had an old junker called Ruphrect (Steve Martin in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).
But I don't automatically give every car I own a name. they have to earn one.

My 1970 Chevy Nova I had in college was nicknamed "Raggity Ride".

The first MG I owned, a black 1972 MG Midget, was name "Harry O"...after the TV show of the same genre...

Other cars have simply been "The Z-car", the Pathfinder, etc.

Wife figured out Hortense for my BJ-7 (Brutish but bes styling)!!
Her Black Tulip MGB Murial for some story book relate to Dark Purple.
My NEW '70 Camino I did (in avi) because of color (Burnt Amber Metallic).
My old '70 Camino Blacki ('cause she is).
Wife's '05 Malibu Maxx Sylvia 'cause she is silver!!

I always name them, just as soon as they tell me what it is. I'm a bit worried as I've had the LE almost a year and it hasn't told me it's name yet

Two of the coolest names I've heard here were......

"Metal Mistress" & "Ta-Da"
(Both assigned by the wife of an enthusiast)

I didn't have to name mine.
She came with a "HELLO my name is Elva", name tag.

I name everything especially cars, I guess I got it from the racing, seem pretty popular to name your car in racing.

For me, as passionate about cars as I am, they are just like pets to me, so why wouldn't I name them.
