General TR Triumph Script Knock-Off Hub Cap

I was recently in England at a rally and picked up this interesting knock-off at one of the tat stalls. This is the first time that I've seen one with the Triumph name in script on it. Any thoughts on the vintage and which model Triumph it might have come from?

That shows the logo that was (and still is) used by Triumph Motorcycles. Triumph cars started with motorcycles, and the car division came later. According to the link below, the logo first appeared in 1934. Triumph sold the motorcycle division in 1936 to Triumph Engineering who continued to build Triumph motorcycles.

If that logo link is correct, then it appears that the knock-off had to come from a car made between '34 and '36.

Anybody have any better info??

I saw a beautiful new-looking Triumph motorcycle last weekend. Black with lots of chrome. I guess they're making them again.

I can't say for sure, but I think Triumph Cars continued to use that logo up to World War II, when the company went into receivership.

I don't think the bikes ever went away. Just the cars.

Hi Folks,

I owned a `72 Triumph Bonneville long time ago. I`m not sure what yr. they stopped Mfg. them but they did stop. Not that long ago; Perhaps 2 or 3yrs ago is when they started Mfg. again.

Just a passing thought.

The original company closed in 1983. Was reestablished in 1984. In 1994 triumph of America was established.
