TR2/3/3A TR3A Horn Attachment Hardware

This photo was taken in the late 90's. You will note both a thick flat and lock washer for each of the two horn attachments. What I can not recall, is the thick washer used as a spacer under the horn and the lock washer on top under the head of the 1/4-28 bolt. Sorry for the poor quality photo - digital cameras have come a long way in 12 years.

Incidentally, the parts catalog shows a standard flat and lock washer on top, but I am fairly certain that what is shown above is the original hardware.

Where do you see that in the SPC, Frank? Mine has no illustration for the horn attachment hardware, but lists the washer as a WM.0093, which according to the standard hardware catalog should be "10G", or about .128" thick (assuming the 10G refers to 10 SWG).

Anyway, it's my belief that the plain washer goes between the horn & body, while the lock washer goes between the bolt head & horn bracket.

I missed the "10G" and figured it was regular thickness. Here is a good reference.

FLAT WASHER THICKNESS TABLE

I have been able to confirm that the thick washer goes underneath, that is between the sheetmetal mounting surface and the horn bracket. The lock washer goes on top under the 1/4-28 bolt head.

Thanks

Hi Frank I am working on that same area. Would you know a supplier that carries the spacer piece?
I believe TRF has them listed, under WM93.

Thanks Randall for your help. I just have trouble finding the little things like that on the TRF site. I put the part number in and it showed up and the next time I tried, it said no good. I must be opening the wrong page. Is there another catalogue on their site other than the mini catalogue?

Frank, I've got a spare of one of the original 1/4" flat washers that went beneath the horn mount bracket. It is 5/8" diameter x 1/8" thickness.

Regards,

Viv.

Not really, just the parts database (which is where I go first on the TRF site). What Charles told me, many years ago now, was that I needed to get a copy of the factory Spare Parts Catalogue and order from that.

They sell both paper and CD reprints; or you can download one from here:

I think I got Randall, but I am not sure. I down loaded the catalogue and found the horns on page 66 and found that part number wm93. Next I went to TRF parts data base and plugged the part number in and it came up with a price, I think 28 cents. Is that how you do it? I could not find any pictures however? The part is most likely the right one, but I am not totally sure.

TRF carries a lot of parts that have never been pictured in a catalog.
If you search their parts database, using the S-T parts book number, and they show it as a currently available part -- it's probably the right part, whether pictured or not.

Thanks Viv, et al. I made them up on the lathe.

Hi There anelfj,

Would you be able to make "4" of them for myself?

Thanx, Russ

I guess that is one more apology I have to make to TRF. I could not understand their system and figured Moss had the only idea that had any depth.
