TR5/TR250 TR250 throttle linkage problem

Took the 250 for a ride tonight to try out the new Petronics I just installed and didn't get 1/2 mile then the gas peddle went limp to the floor with no response. Quick inspection reveled that the link rod came off. After struggling to it back on I was not able to push the gas peddle down at all. I took the link rod back off and then tried the vertical link rod and it would not budge. What could have happened all of a sudden? Been driving it for 5 years now. Any one have this experience and a fix?

Someone had asked me at a car show if the gas peddle was hard to push with the triple z's. He said a friend got a cable conversion for his and loves it. On long trips the right foot does get cramped after a while. Anyone know of a cable replacement kit for the throttle?

And here's how to do it. It's a bit easier with twin carbs, but you will love the difference. And do the throttle bushings in the firewall at the same time.

The rod has a bend to it and if not put back properly, it won't work. There is also a spring that runs about 3/4 the length of the rod that tends to pop out of the retaining clip when the rod is dislodged.
I also switched over to the Ratco linkage a couple years ago and have been extremely happy with it. Not only is it smoother, I also picked up extra pedal. The first cold start up was a little eye opening when I put the pedal to the floor and it stuck. A little lubricant and everything worked great.

Thanks for the replies. I went to their web site and looks intriguing. I didn't see any pricing so I emailed them. No reply yet. I do have one problem with the idea of drilling 2 holes into the body.

It is painful to drill holes in perfectly good metal, but the end result is worth it. I'm thinking the cost was in the area of $100.
