My TR250 has an oil pump that looks different than the catalog illustrations I have seen.
The main difference is has not screen around the pickup, just a tube and a hole.
The idea of sucking up everything that might be in the sump does not seem to be such a good one to me.
On the other hand my car had 90,000+ miles, took the motor apart, stock size everything (leading me to conclude the engine has not been touched) and so little wear to the crank the the machine shop just polished and I got new bearings and we are back in business.
SO should I follow the if it works don't mess with it school of thought or try to set up a pick up screen for the pump, I have never seen a motor without one until now, my machine shop guy thought it a little odd as well.
