You gonna drive your Healey?

The last time I drove a Healey from Oregon to Florida was in 1985. Great trip, but it took about six days or so, and that was without stopping to smell the roses. I think I'll fly this time. Two weeks on the road for the round trip is not something my schedule allows right now.

I'm also going to Amsterdam for the Healey Museum opening next month. And before you ask, No, I'm not driving my Healey. :driving:

Reid, I have every intention of being there; I registered quite some months back.

The last time BN6L-942 was on display in Tampa, was the club's June 1985 event at Cypress Gardens. This weekend will be the car's *coming out* party since being cosmetically restored at Tsikuris' Lakeland shop, then spending a decade in Ohio, to finally and permanantly, reside in Florida (barely 45 minutes south of Tampa).

I hope to see you there. We should be somewhere this:

Good deal! Paul does great work. My 100M was under restoration in his shop, off and on, from 1988 to 1998.

I love those horizontal-bar AMCO grilles! I have a NOS one sitting here. Not sure what I'll ever do with it, but I may think of something...

I'm trying to remember if my first Cypress Gardens event was 1985 or 1986. You know, that is the event that morphed into the Southeastern Austin-Healey Classic.

Anyways, I'll be around. I'll be presenting the "Reid Trummel Founder's Trophy", so that will be one sure way to find me

Hey Reid,
You should try to stick around an extra week and come on up to the Hilton Head Concours on November 3rd and 4th ! Healey is being celebrated for the 60th Anniversary and quite a few guys from AHCA will be there too including Gary Brierton. Should be a great Healey weekend !!!
Regards
Mike

Ric, I could put up enough pictures to crash Basil's server! There's over 30,000 images in my gallery: www.spcarsplus.com/gallery3

Here's a couple to whet your appetite...

Maybe "we" should "sticky" this post/thread, so all these links will remain available for future searches, as Randy's picture links...?

Oh, and the tires are 195/65 on 6" rims (a bit wide for the fronts; I'm thinking I should try to find/have made a pair of 5" center-laced rims).

And since I DID NOT WIN any awards yesterday, here's some pictures of the trophies that my car won at the last Tampa Bay Austin-Healey Club we attended: Austin-Healey Classic, which Reid may or may not have been part of the motivating force behind the event.

I should've counted how many Healeys were there; whatever the number, there was a lot of them! Since I haven't been to a "NationalEvent" since 1978, yesterday was more Healeys than I've seen in one (1) place in over three (>3) decades. It was a great turn-out, fantastic weather, and I was lucky enough to meet our esteemed moderator (and Healey Marque Editor) face to face. We had a really good time, the Healey ran the hour or so trip up and back without a fault; what more could you ask for?

Not too many, though these were taken about that same time (this is what the car looked like at the Cypress Garden's show, with primer around the fender vents, though it didn't have the (magnetic) numbers on it:

And this is what it looked like by the latter part of 1986...
