Posi-Rear end in a series 3 Jaguar xj6

What are my options? A rear end from a XJS? Or, is there a unit that will drop in to the stock pumpkin? Not looking to change the gearing per se. Just prefer the feel of the limited slip differential.

Thanks!

Any used 6 unit will work, just find a limited-slip out of XJ6-12, gears may change, but compare tags, they have the ratio on them. All mine were limited-slips so they must be in the breakers yards, hopefully not all went for hotrods.

Well, wasn't sure since I thought that was the first "Ford" built car

Series 3 was still Jag. Ford did not buy until 92. The XJ8 was Ford and the XJ40 was under GM ( who Jag thought was going to buy them) and to me screwed up the XJ from 88-91 that we called them Buicks.

I know Jaguar used GM autoboxes but I dont think there was ever any other connection, was there?

The V12 E-Types and maybe 420 used GM power steering pumps. Earlier sedans used Ford based (Eaton) pumps. There are some Delco parts on Series II and II XJ6's and Harrison A/C compressors. And DANA (Salisbury) 44 ring and pinion and Spicer u-joints.

When I saw solid axle I was thinking solid not typical geared. I was on drag mode when you weld them solid. My 120/140 and MK1 and MK2 would have the persay solid axle. The Chevy influence throughout was emissions, A/C, computers. As nine chip components and limp home, Jag used the Chevy TH400 tranny since 85? ( in V-12). As for the A/C system, I ran in trouble in concours when I used new GM fastners on a XJ12 as in the original Jag sales brochures and original cars. Was finally overrode by 3-2 in final judging and a National win in 1992.
