For the past couple of months I've recycled my site's previous-month's "picture of the month" here for no reason other than raw exhibitionism and an attempt to wring the most exposure from each pixel. The last one I posted here was a Saab rally car in Alaska.

This time around I'll post a shot of 2 Berkeleys taken in the late fifties at Hour Glass Field, which was then part of Miramar NAS north of San Diego. Part of the course is now in the Miramar College parking lot. Technically not wonderful but I really like it. Jim Fox is in #217.

Yeah, but, they're Berkeleys...I mean, you can walk faster than they run!

Tony, see:

Berks were frequently raced here and in the UK and had some success on the continent. Here, they ran in SCCA H-modified (and usually got creamed there) H production, I-production for the 3 cylinder cars, and J-production (!) for the 2 cyl. I think J was invented just for Berks. There are 2 that I know of active in vintage racing. Strange but true.

I guess there's a class for everything...guy down the street races a lawnmower...pretty fast one at that...he's really built that thing...it almost sounds like a motorcycle going down the street.

I saw this Berkley at a local mini & micro car show. Didn't know much about them, but it certainly caught my eye and I really like the air cooled motor in the front. Nice shape.

I heard about a guy that was making a Berkeley Hayabusa....

Don't know whatever happened to him.

Maybe he died?
