Well, Revington TR is the one that has the alloy body shells available. They used to list the price of the steel and alloy bodies separately, but now only show a price and saying that they are available in aluminium on special order. The listing now is £38,694 or $50,955 which I'd imagine is for just the steel body. Either way, a ton of money.
Here are some dubious figures that come from my unreliable memory. I was trying to source some TR3 sheet metal in the UK a half dozen or so years ago and happened upon a supplier who had an aluminum TR3 on his web page. I know the one above is a TR2 but I only remember it as a 3. Also from the same memory is that it could be had for about £25k plus shipping of course and I've no idea what the exchange was then.
This build is, if I've got it right, from the seemingly well funded 502 Motorsports in Louisville Ky. https://502motorworks.com/
I think the car and the auction are a bit of advertising for them. It is also an example of the dubious relationships with what a car cost to build and what it will actually bring on the block.
All speculation of course but I wouldn't be surprised to see it actually sell for $50k, on par with a concours TR2 restoration.
Tom
