MGB New seat rails for my 1963 MGB

Greetings, I have been restoring the interior of my '63 MGB for the last few weeks. While doing this restoration (leather seats, new powder coated dash, etc.) I decided to replace the seat rails. The old ones were grimy and very greasy. Do not throw these away! New ones from Moss or BV are pure junk!!!!! When mine arrived they would not slide together when assembled on the work bench. After much straightening they finally would sort of slide without too much difficulty. After installation (not an easy job), you could barely move them without anyone sitting on the seats. After removal I compared the new to the old and found the new ones are made out of a softer metal and are totally unsuitable for the job. Cheaply made does not even come close to describing their quality. This seems to be the normal problem on many new parts being offered for out suppliers. I would strongly advise keeping the old ones and de-grease and blast until clean. Thankfully I did not discard mine. Prime, paint, grease, and reinstall. My new policy is to never discard any original parts being replaced on my car. My new seat rails are only good for the re-cycle bin, they certainly cannot be returned.

You are correct on both. Do not throw away original parts until the job is done. New rails arr shyte and do not work...the seat will fall apart from the sliders. Good man!
best,
d.

They also supply heater spares. Would place a large order if posting from the UK....saves money.
